About Us
Giving a Ray of Hope is a non-profit organization led by students located in the Austin community. Our goal is to spread awareness and aid children in hospitals by providing comfort in dark times. Our organization is focused on spreading awareness through blogs, posts, donations, service projects, and more in order to help children! With many children struggling in hospitals, we hope to provide hopefulness and positivity in every way possible to lift their spirits.
Service Project
Our second service project was creating cards and giving small gifts for children at the Dell Children’s Comprehensive Care Clinic (CCC). We wanted to get involved with the kids and provide a source of joy during the season of love, while also giving small gifts to brighten their day!
The Process
Our members worked hard to write thoughtful cards and make fun gifts for the children. Although we had originally planned to surprise the kids on Valentine’s Day with something to spice up their day, we encountered a setback with the unpredictable Texas weather. Many people suffered from power outages and burst pipes all throughout the week. The snow storm and ice definitely surprised everyone, however, many members took this time as a chance to create even more cards and gifts! We also received donations from communities and schools on February 27th, after the “Ice Age of 2021.” Thankfully, we were able to get through this situation and finally donate everything to Dell Children’s Comprehensive Care Center (CCC) on March 1st. We donated a final total of over 400 cards and gifts combined! This project was definitely a success thanks to all of the efforts from our members. It was so heart-warming to see everyone working so hard to give back to the community. This was truly an amazing journey, and we are so grateful for everyone who helped out and supported us!
Donating
We were able to donate over 400 cards and gifts to Dell Children’s Comprehensive Care Center (CCC). We are so grateful that the clinic allowed us to do this--it is truly an honor to be able to bring joy to these children, especially during the pandemic.
How this Helps Children
Giving a Ray of Hope spreads awareness, while also bringing joy to children in hospitals. By donating cards and gifts, it helps lift children’s spirits and sets a bright mood in hospitals. On our website, we are shining a light on numerous topics of diseases. This informs people who care about our cause and enables children to feel less alone regarding situations that others would feel alien towards. Just by sending our love, we are illuminating our community through future generations. These cards were filled with messages of hope, joy, and laughter. One enjoyable experience could brighten their day, and hopefully their stay at the clinic.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, Giving A Ray of Hope was overjoyed to have the opportunity to give back on Valentine’s Day. We are proud of the amount of work we put in and how much joy we were able to bring. We would like to take a moment to thank all of our members, supporters, and followers who constantly provide their hard work and support us in what we do. We would also like to give a special thanks to the hospitals and nurses who put their lives on the line to save others and provide a safe place for adults and children alike.
