BOOK DRIVE SERVICE PROJECT

 

Giving A Ray Of Hope is hosting a book drive to collect various books for hospitalized children. These donated books will provide entertainment and hope for the children during summertime! Find out how you can get involved! 

 

DEADLINE: June 26th- July 10th, Saturday 11:59 PM

 

Collecting the books: 

• Collect books from your home, and ask if your friends, families, or neighbors would like help! 

• Check the quality of each book (using the rubric below). And please make sure they are in good condition and age-appropriate for children to use. 

• Package books neatly (ziplocks, plastic bags, etc) and drop them off in one of the locations listed below.

 

IMPORTANT: DO NOT write your name on the book, please write it on a sticky note, or a separate piece of paper. 

**When donating, we can specially attach a small card with your name on the book to personalize your donation if you choose to!

 

Acceptable books (for ages 4 - 15): 

• Picture books

• Comic books

• Chapter books

• Young adult novels

• Nonfiction novels

• Memoirs 

*If you have any other genres that you are unsure about, please reach out to the SP leads or the co-founders

 

Quality check: 

• Please ensure that there are no drawings or colorings 

• No torn/missing pages

• No violent or disturbing images/words

• DO NOT write your name on the book, please keep it on a separate piece of paper

 

Verification:

• Name must be included on a separate piece of paper to gain volunteer hours

• If you want your name to be included on the books as well, add “personalize the book” onto the separate piece of paper. If you would like to remain anonymous to the kids we are donating to, please write just your name on the separate piece of paper so you still gain volunteer hours. 

• You will earn 30 minutes for every 2 books donated. *There is no limit to the number of books you can donate!* Additionally if you feel that it took you more time then you were given credit for, please reach out to co-founders (thru Instagram or GroupMe).
